Jualan runcit UK merosot lebih rendah berbanding ramalan pada akhir tahun ini, angka dari Pejabat Perangkaan Kebangsaan mendedahkan pada Jumaat. Jualan runcit merosot 3.2 peratus pada Disember, membalikkan kenaikan 1.4 peratus yang dilaporkan pada November. Penurunan itu juga lebih besar daripada ramalan yang mengunjurkan penurunan 0.5 peratus. Tidak termasuk bahan bakar automatik, jumlah penjualan runcit menurun 3.3 peratus, berbeza dengan kenaikan 1.5 peratus sebulan yang lalu. Penjualan dijangka turun secara sederhana sebanyak 0.6 peratus. Jumlah jualan kedai bukan makanan turun 3.9 peratus dan jumlah jualan kedai makanan susut 3.1 peratus. Dan jumlah jualan bahan api automotif menurun 1.9 peratus. Pada asas tahunan, jualan runcit keseluruhan menurun 2.4 peratus selepas ia merekodkan kenaikan 0.2 peratus. Begitu juga, penjualan tidak termasuk bahan bakar automatik merosot 2.1 peratus berikutan kenaikan 0.5 peratus. Jumlah penjualan turun 2.8 peratus pada tahun 2023 dan merupakan paras terendah sejak 2018, kata ONS.
